Hazyview Cabanas 8 to 15 May 2009

My favourite part of South Africa is the Mpumalanga Lowveld, primarily because it borders the famous Kruger National Park.

We try and visit Kruger as often as possible but sometimes it is booked to capacity and we have to find alternate accommodation.

That is when we head to one of the many lodges and resorts in the Hazyview area. The closest Kruger entrance gate, Phabeni,  is only 8 km from Hazyview, ideal to pop into the park as a day visitor.

For this trip we managed to get accommodation at Hazyview Cabanas, a few kilometers outside Hazyview on the Sabie road.

When we checked in, the friendly reception staff made us feel right at home.

The resort had recently been upgraded to Gold Crown status and this was evident. The resort borders the Sabie river and boasts a row of log cabins with great river views. Warning signs that hippos are dangerous remind you that you are not far from the Kruger National park.

The Hazyview Cabanas resort is situated next to the Sabie road and is surrounded by mountains, the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday.

If you are tired of relaxing, there is a sparkling pool, putt-putt course, games room,  and the boma right on the banks of the river.

The resorts has more than 100 log cabins and chalets that are situated amongst shady trees and green lawns. All  units are fully equipped for self catering, but if preparing food while on holiday is not for you, the on site coffee shop provides refreshments and light meals.

For a larger variety, Hazyview offers a selection of fast food outlets and restaurants.

We quickly got into the routine of visiting the Kruger park in the mornings and relaxing at the resort in the afternoons.

We own timeshare points and used some of our points to secure accommodation, but you can also book your holiday at the resort without timeshare points, just contact Anytime Holiday Rentals at tel:086 126 9846 or email at: bookings@anytimeholidays,co.za
