Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park
The Hluhluwe Umfolozi park is less than an hour's drive away from St Lucia, (see map below) so we decided to go take a look and see what the Park had to offer the tourist..
The park boasts 8 camps or bush lodges with accommodation ranging from self catering to restaurant facilities. Day visitors are also welcome. Hilltop camp is particularly impressive with a view that goes on forever. The park covers 96,453 ha and is the stronghold of the white and black rhino which were nearly hunted to extinction in the past.
We had a very successful day of game viewing as you can see by the pictures below. The park is well worth the visit, being much smaller than the Kruger park, the wildlife is more concentrated and easier to spot...Don't forget your cameras and LOTSA film!
